Abigail Court Capital Campaign – a Project Turnkey Partnership

Turning The Page On Student Homelessness

CHNW is excited to announce our latest property – opening Fall 2024!

College Student homelessness is pervasive in Oregon, with 50% of students experiencing housing insecurity. While few solutions exist to address the problem, one evolving sustainable solution is the ARCS (Affordable Rents for College Students) program established by CHNW in 2020. Since its inception, ARCS’s low barriers to entry and subsidized rents offer safe and inclusive housing to students experiencing homelessness.

However the tremendous need remains a stark reality. Oregon’s college students are experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity at all-time highs, with few solutions on the horizon.

Building On A Unique Opportunity: Project Turnkey

Recognizing this urgent need, the Oregon Legislature generously granted funds to CHNW through Project Turnkey to purchase a hotel in East Portland, which is currently being renovated into 75 low and no-cost studios specifically for student housing.

Project Details

Abigail Court Capital Campaign’s $13 million goal includes the purchase of the building and the renovations, ultimately providing 75 units that will double CHNW’s ability to provide low and no-cost rent to students in need. This first-of-its-kind project will create a meaningful impact for housing insecure college students in the Gresham area by creating subsidized and supportive housing that will contribute to success, well-being, and stability.

This unique public-private partnership brings together communities, businesses, government, and philanthropy, allowing College Housing Northwest to create deeply affordable housing for vulnerable college students for a fraction of the cost of traditional affordable housing.
